Application of a Modified Arm Port Implantation Method
Objective To investigate the effect of a modified arm port implantation method, aiming to provide a reference for clinical healthcare providers in choosing arm port implantation methods. Methods From June 2019 to June 2022,87 malignant tumor patients were selected by convenience sampling who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. These patients were grouped according to their admission time.Patients who were admitted from June 2019 to February 2020 were included in the control group(n=42)and those who were admitted from March 2020 to June 2022 were included in the observation group(n=45).In the control group, arm ports were implanted using the traditional method;in the observation group, arm ports were implanted in the modified method. The time taken to implant the port seat, the incidence of intraoperative catheter folding beneath the pocket, the score of intraoperative pain and the incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results The time taken to implant the port seat, the score of intraoperative pain, the incidence of intraoperative catheter folding beneath the pocket and the incidence of postoperative complications of the observation group were shorter/lower than those of the control group, with significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion This modified implantation method is worthy of clinical promotion as it is associated with a shorter implantation time,a lower degree of intraoperative pain, and lower incidences of intraoperative catheter folding and postoperative complications.
