Objective To explore the intervention effect of case management in combination with TCM clinic nursing on lymphedema after breast cancer surgery, aiming to provide a reference for refining transitional care and enhancing patients'quality of life. Methods A total of 60 patients with lymphedema after breast cancer surgery were selected by convenience sampling who were admitted to Shanghai Baoshan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from June 2022 to June 2023.They were grouped according to the order of admission.Specifically, patients admitted from June to December 2022 were divided into the control group(n=30)to receive routine nursing in combination with breast cancer nursing at a TCM clinic for 6 months;patients admitted from January to June 2023 were divided into the observation group(n=30)to receive case management in combination with the interventions in the control group for 6 months. The following were compared between the two groups:edema of the affected limbs 1-2 days after admission,3 months after discharge and 6 months after discharge;TCM syndrome scores,Exercise of Self-Care Agency(ESCA)scores and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast(FACT-B)scores 1-2 days after admission and 6 months after discharge. Results Three and six months after discharge, the differences in bilateral arm circumferences in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Six months after discharge, the TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05)and the ESCA and FACT-B scores were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Combining case management with breast cancer nursing at a TCM clinic ensures patients receive consistent and effective professional care during their transition from hospital to home. This approach helps reduce lymphedema after breast cancer surgery and relieves related discomfort symptoms, thereby enhancing patients'self-care ability and quality of life.
