Application of Intradermal Needling Combined with Five-Tone Music Therapy in Patients with Hy-pertension of Liver-Yang Ascendant Hyperactivity and Insomnia
Objective To explore the effect of intradermal needling combined with five-tone music therapy on alleviating insomnia and improving the general health of patients with hypertension of liver-yang ascendant hyperactivity. Methods From September 2019 to November 2020,143 inpatients with primary hypertension of liver-yang ascendant hyperactivity and insomnia were selected by convenience sampling who were admitted to the Hypertension and Sleep Department at the Affiliated Hospital of Gansu University of Chinese Medicine.According to the order of admission, they were divided into four groups:control group(n=36),intradermal needling group(n=35),five-tone music therapy group(n=36)and intradermal needling+five-tone music therapy group(n=36).These groups were given routine care, acupoint intrusion needle intervention,five-line music intervention, intradermal needling,five-tone music therapy and intradermal needling+five-tone music therapy, respectively. After 2 weeks of continuous intervention, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and 36-Item Short Form Survey(SF-36)were used to evaluate and compare the sleep quality and health status among the 4 groups. Results After 2 weeks of intervention, the total PSQI scores and scores in each dimension(except for sleep quality and sleep medication in the control group)were lower than those before intervention in the 4 groups(P<0.05);the scores each SF-36 dimension(except for bodily pain in the control group)were higher than those before intervention in the 4 groups(P<0.05).Based on the results of pairwise comparisons, the combination therapy group exhibited a better improvement in total PSQI scores, scores in PSQI dimensions(sleep quality, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances and sleep latency)and scores in each SF-36 dimension than other groups, with significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Intradermal needling combined with five-tone music therapy is more effective in improving the sleep quality of patients with hypertension of liver-yang ascendant hyperactivity, thereby enhancing their general health.
