Phytoplankton Population Change and Their Relationship with Water Environmental Factors in Fenhe Reservoir
To evaluate the seasonal variations in phytoplankton and their relationship with environmental factors in the Fenhe Reservoir, seven sampling points were set up in the reservoir area based on its shape and hydrological characteristics.Four surveys of environmental factors and phytoplankton in the Fenhe Reservoir were conducted in October 2020,March 2021,June 2021,and September 2021.The water quality of the Fenhe Reservoir was analyzed, and the response of phytoplankton to environmental changes was explored. The study identified a total of 245 species of phytoplankton belonging to 93 genera and 8 phyla in the Fenhe Reservoir. The dominant groups were green algae and diatoms. In March 2021,Bacillariophyta was predominant, while Chlorophyta was dominant in June 2021,September 2021,and October 2020.The comprehensive trophic state index of the Fenhe Reservoir was 28.07,classifying it as an oligotrophic reservoir. The chlorophyll-a content was significantly positively correlated with water temperature, air temperature, and nitrite nitrogen content, indicating that water temperature, air temperature, and nitrite nitrogen content are limiting factors for phytoplankton growth.Phytoplankton density in the Fenhe Reservoir was significantly correlated with water temperature, dissolved oxygen content, transparency, suspended solids content, permanganate index, ammonia nitrogen content, and nitrite nitrogen content. The variations in phytoplankton community structure in the Fenhe Reservoir were mainly influenced by water temperature. The comprehensive nutrient evaluation classified the Fenhe Reservoir as an oligotrophic, with good water quality. The structure, density, and biomass of the phytoplankton community varied significantly over time and were influenced by water environmental factors.
