The present paper,looking back at the history,in which the People's Government of New China was de-termined to eradicate opium-smoking and remake the national image by setting up a unitary system of pro-duction and supply of anti-opium medicines,concludes that the CPC showcased its outstanding capability of governance by making New China a drug-free country and thus entirely freed the country from the old image of Sick Man of East Asia.
