The present paper,examining very carefully Yanzheng zhi(Records of Salt Administration)authored by Zhu Tingli,who was the imperial Salt-Control Censor in the Jiajing reign(1522-1566)and set an exam-ple in compiling this type of special record,discusses intensively the historical background in relation to the development of salt administration while showing the interrelation of production of this record and self-perception and group reconstruction of censors represented by Zhu.
