The present paper,reexamining Qian Zhongshu's 1983 assertion of poetic nature of history,which is not appealing to historians even to this day,proposes that historians treat this assertion as a great academic i-deal and grasp Qian's understanding of the interrelationship of poetry and history,modern meanings of po-etic nature,and realistic mythologization of history from the perspective of evolution of Sino-Western histo-riography.Furthermore,it infers that Qian suggested a higher history resolving to find the historical truth knitting many souls close together.
