The present paper,delving into the personal records penned by missionaries living in Shanghai when the Incident broke out,argues that these records shed revealing light on multiple aspects of the Incident,gave more evidences exposing the Japanese army's brutalities and atrocities against the Chinese,and called for an international aid to China.Moreover,it fairly says the missionaries paid greater attention to sufferings of churches and Christian converts,as compared with other resident aliens in Shanghai.
