The Impact of Gender Differences on Family Asset Structure from the Perspective of Intergenerational Differences
This paper examines the impact of children's gender on family asset structure and its intergenerational differences.Overall, the gender of children has a significant impact on household asset structure and there are intergenerational differences.Boys'families have a higher proportion of housing assets and a lower proportion of financial assets, while risk aversion awareness increases and risk assets account for a smaller proportion. With economic and social development, men and women tend to be more equal, and the impact of children's gender on household asset structure is weakened.Mechanistic analysis shows that the gender of the children affects the family asset structure and its intergenerational differences through"marriage payment"and"pension insurance"in favor of boys.
