Structure analysis of linear low density polyethylene powder and agglomeration in Unipol gas phase reactor
The microstructure of powder material and its ag-glomeration material of two types of linear low density polyethy-lene(LLDPE)2720 and 7042 produced by Unipol gas phase polymerization process were characterized and the agglomera-tion mechanism was analyzed. The results showed that the melt-ing point and degree of crystallinity of agglomeration polyethy-lene decreased, the crystallization temperature, relative molecular weight and melting flow rate were basically the same. The two kinds of LLDPE powder had a strong sense of particles, and agglomeration polyethylene resulted from the fine particles melting and bonding into a block, which contained the bubble structure of gas wrapped in the polymer melt. The agglomeration formation was mainly due to the dual action of particle electro-static adsorption of the diffusion segment and butene insertion to reduce the melting temperature of polyethylene.
