Research on the Relationship between Leading Team Traits and Performance of Basic Academic Organizations Based on fsQCA
Optimization of the performance of basic academic organizations is an important path to improve the comprehensive strength of universities.Taking 25 case teams as samples,this paper adopts the method of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA)to analyze the influence of different configurations of leading team traits on the performance of basic academic organizations based on the upper echelons theory.The results indicate that the two configurations of top leader combination which are named configuration of complementary education background and configuration of high-proportioned experts and three configurations of team member heterogeneity which are named configuration of high-proportioned leading talents,configuration of diverse education background,and configuration of diverse professional competencies are conducive to the performance of basic academic organizations.The configuration of high-proportioned leading talents is found in mature organizations or latecomer organizations,the configuration of diverse education background is found in developing organizations,and the configuration of diverse professional competencies is found in organizations in transformation period.The conclusions provide practice guidance for the appointment of leaders and the enhancement of governance capacity in the context of basic academic organizations in universities.
