A mask is not only a decoration,but also a symbol of people's social and psychological expression and adaptation.Using the"media mask"as an analytical framework to understand the current wearable VR/AR technology,it is found that such a media technology provides a"technical eye"for viewing,leading the body to organize actions,and performing digital performances on behalf of personalities.The"media mask"separates the subject and spirit,and aggregates the fragmented"self"into digital scenes,writing a new configuration of digital avatars.The"media mask"while changing the digital lifestyle,also leads to a series of cultural consequences such as bodily domination illusion,action dependence,and emotional cocoon.Faced with these issues,reviving the diversity of human beings as subjects is an effective way to deal with the dilemma of the"media mask".
