Translation and Knowledge Production in the Context of Globalization:With Reference to the Possibility of Constructing a Translation History of Disciplinary Knowledge
The inherent economic,political,and power superiority of dominant cultures can lead to homogenization of culture and knowledge and their imbalance in global circulation.Translation accelerates the global circulation of culture and knowledge in the process of promoting local knowledge to going global.By making the knowledge and meaning in translation problematic,this paper finds that knowledge and meaning are not neutral and objective facts,but results of struggles between cultural and social relations in the transmission and final establishment in the target system.It is found that the implementation of translation on a global scale will contribute to the formation of a"hybrid"meaning or conceptual system,thus providing value and ideological basis for the mutual identification between cultures.In the context of globalization,the transnational and cross-cultural complexity of translation activities also provides a theoretical and factual basis for the construction of independent histories of knowledge translation in every disciplinary field.
