Four of Hu Shi's lost articles,How China Fought for a Long Time,Youth Should Not be Pessimistic,American Foreign Policy,Views on the Domestic Situation,as well as one lost letter to Beijing News,were newly discovered.How China Fought for a Long Time was a speech delivered by Ambassador Hu Shi at the Third"One Bowl of Rice"Campaign banquet in New York.It was mailed by Hu Shi to Shen Bao by American Airlines and published by three times in January 1941.Youth Should Not be Pessimistic appeared in Modern Literature,Vol.1,No.1,November 16,1946.The Foreign Policy of the United States was published in New China Monthly News,Vol.1,No.3,December 20,1946.Views on the Domestic Situation was published in the Essence of the Weekly,1948,No.6.It can be seen from the newly discovered lost letter that Hu Shi had been paying attention to the Beijing News for a long time.As early as September 7,1920,he specially wrote to the editor of Beijing News to propose the establishment of the newspaper.
