How to Organize Sensation?——On Wittgenstein's Foothold in the Criticism of Köhler's Gestalt Psychology
In the process of the formation of Wittgenstein's philosophy of psychology,the conversation between Wittgenstein and Köhler occupies a very special place.From the problem of the sensory organization,this article investigates the foothold of Wittgenstein's criticism of Köhler's Gestalt Psychology.Köhler's basic idea is:"organization"is similar to the fact of visual experiences like shape and color.Wittgenstein thinks that this view reflects the typical faults on psychology in methodology,reducing the"organization"to some physiological visual reality,but it's impossible to verify the experiential hypothesis.When we differentiate"organization"and"seeing"more carefully,you will find them in the different conceptual level,and they should not be assimilated.Wittgenstein enlightens that the task of the psychology is not to explain the psychological phenomenon,but to focus on how to express the psychological symbol,namely from the scientific proof to the grammatical investigations in the philosophy of psychology.
