Understanding Chinese Philosophy:A Realism-Oriented Inquiry
If Chinese philosophy is defined as philosophical thought originating from China, then the question"What is Chinese philosophy?"becomes a qualitative inquiry into the nature of this thought. This can be framed as exploring whether there is material within the historical development of Chinese thought that can be labeled as"philosophical".However,if Chinese philosophy is understood not merely as Chinese philosophical thought but as an approach to studying Chinese thought philosophically, then the inquiry must extend beyond thought alone to consider the practical context of such research.Particularly within the academic framework of organ-ized institutional research,it must address the circumstances surrounding philosophical studies. This paper ar-gues that"What is Chinese philosophy?"is primarily a question of practical concern, requiring a perspective grounded in reality.
