On the Foundations and Rationale for Advancing Modern Technology
Technology, originating from human labor, communication, and the necessities of life, was initially con-ceived for humanity's ultimate purpose-to enable individuals to fulfill their potential and achieve self-realiza-tion in the metaphysical sense, embodying a comprehensive good life in practical philosophy. In the context of modernity, technology appears to possess an ontological nature, reinforced by its remarkable ability to both de-construct and synthesize. This prompts the question of whether technology is a myth or a tragedy, presented with a blend of joy and sorrow. When the illusion of technological omnipotence completely dominates human consciousness and will, the tumultuous advancement of technology driven by desire often leads people to over-look its inherent dangers and risks.Investigating and pursuing the foundation and rationale of modern technol-ogy involves a process of reasoned reflection and critical assessment of its dualistic value. These foundations and reasons do not originate within technology itself;rather, they are rooted in humanity-the thinking sub-jects comprising the thoughts, intentions, and actions of technology's creators, regulators, and users,along-side their external manifestations.Foundations require clarification rather than defense, reflecting inherent clarity, while reasons necessitate defense and validation, reflecting rationality.Although the essence,exist-ence,and ideal state of technology emerge through its creation and application processes, they are ultimately shaped by the intentions and actions of human agents.Responsibility for contemplating the foundation and rati-onale of technology is distributed among its three primary subjects-creators,regulators,and users.Only by harmoniously integrating self-regulation based on benevolent intent with external oversight rooted in conscien-tious scrutiny can technology authentically serve as a means to achieve the ultimate good.
