Ku Hungming and Richard Wilhelm:Western Sinology,Sinologists and Sinology Criticism
The criticisms of Ku Hungming on Western Sinology in the 19th century are mainly reflected in his article titled"Chinese Learning",and can also be found in some other articles criticizing the West,including letters to some contemporary Western sinologists.In more than 20 letters to the German sinologist Richard Wilhelm from 1910 to 1914,Ku Hungming insisted on and defended his Confucian thoughts and Chinese cultural position as well as his critical attitude towards Western Sinology.Meanwhile,he fully showed his basic way of thoughts interaction and academic discussion with Western sinologists and their fo-cus of attention.
