Objective To construct and apply an electronic frailty index for the older adults in communities. Methods The electronic frailty index(eFI)for the older adults in the communities was constructed based on the health check-up data of Shanghai Nanxiang Town Community Health Center affiliated to Tongji University School of Medicine during 2019 to 2021.The frailty status was assessed with frailty phenotype(FP)and electronic frailty index among 222 older residents who underwent health check-up in health stations in October 2022,and the consistency of the two methods was evaluated. Results There were 95 males(42.8%)and 127 females(57.2%)with an average age of 69.3±6.7 years.According to the assessment by eFI,the rates of normal status,pre-frailty status and frailty status were 15.8%,63.5%and 20.7%,respectively.According to the frailty phenotype, the corresponding rates were 27.5%,57.2%and 15.3%,respectively.The intraclass correlation coefficient between eFI and FP was 0.742(95%CI:0.677-0.796,P<0.001),indicating a good consistency. The Kappa value of the frailty status assessed by eFI and FP was 0.503,indicating a moderate consistency. Conclusion The electronic frailty index provides a quick and effective method to assess the frailty status of the older adults in communities.
