Chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH)is one of the most common neurological disorders with continuously increasing incidence,especially among elderly individuals.The disease has certain recurrence rate,complication rate and death rate,even in patients with adequate treatment.With the new insight for the pathophysiological mechanisms of CSDH,new treatment modalities,surgical and non-surgical,have become research focus in the past decades.This article reviews the recent advances in CSDH research,focus on epidemiology and risk factors,pathophysiology,surgical and non-surgical treatments,risk and prevention of recurrence,to provide reference for clinical management and further research of CSDH.
