Objective To analyze trends of cancer mortality in Anting community of Shanghai from 2009 to 2022.Methods Data of population and cancer death cases in Anting community of Shanghai from 2009 to 2022 were collected, the crude mortality rate,age-standardized mortality rate(ASMR),annual percentage change(APC),average annual percentage change(AAPC)were calculated.ASMR was calculated by Chinese standard population based on the NSO census 2000.Joinpoint regression analysis was used to analyze the average annual trend;the best annual trend curve of mortality rate was determined by the grid search method,Monte Carlo replacement test and modified Bayesian method. Results There were total of 6 516 deaths in Anting community during 2009-2022,of which 2 150(33.00%)were due to malignant tumors. The average annual crude cancer mortality rate was 240.42/105,and the mortality rate in males(307.59/105)was higher than that in females(172.29/105).There were no significant changes in crude cancer mortality rate, while the ASMR showed a significant decline(AAPC=-2.5%,P<0.001).The crude mortality rate of lung cancer increased by 142.1%showing a significant upward trend(AAPC=8.6%,P=0.034);while the ASMR of gastric cancer dropped by 50.3%showing a significant downward trend(AAPC=-6.0%,P=0.008).The cancer mortality increased with age, starting from age of 65 years and peaking at age of 85 years and above. The top 5 leading causes of cancer death for males were lung, stomach, liver, pancreatic and colorectal cancers;for females were stomach, lung, pancreatic, colorectal and breast cancers. Conclusion Cancer deaths in the Anting community of Shanghai are on the rise, especially in the age group of 65+years.The overall standardized mortality rate is decreasing, but lung cancer and colorectal cancer show an increasing trend. The causes of cancer death are associated with gender and age, indicating that measures of cancer prevention and control should be developed accordingly.
