Indigenous Theoretical Frameworks and Practical Development Trends of Community Resident Participation
Within the realm of urban governance, the policy imperatives such as"extensive mass participation","common construction, common governing",and"everyone has responsi-bilities and everyone fulfills their responsibilities"underscore the pivotal role of resident involve-ment in communities.Resident participation in community is a dynamic, historical, and practical social concept that should be discussed in the context of specific social backgrounds and systems. In the current socio-political landscape of our country,it is imperative to uphold the principle of residents'self-governance,maintain the equitable balance of residents'rights and obligations, and facilitate community residents'involvement in decision-making,management,and operational aspects of community affairs through established organizational structures or channels.Within academic discourse, various local theories have emerged, including the"Chinese ladder model of resident participation,""mass participation theory,""community actors theory,"and"residents'community responsibility theory."Nevertheless, recent developmental trends indicate that nu-merous experimental initiatives are either reinforcing or transcending these theoretical frame-works.Future endeavors on advancing community residents'participation and fostering genuine urban governance communities should be carried out from three dimensions:material infrastruc-ture,value-driven impetus, and practical domains.
