Effect of curcumin on the growth inhibition and apoptosis induction of nasopharyngeal carci-noma CNE-2Z cells through NF-κB and its mechanism
Objective:To investigate the effect of curcumin on the proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2Z cells through NF-κB.Methods:The effect of curcumin on the proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2Z cells was determined by MTT method. The apoptosis of CNE-2Z cells at different concentrations of curcumin was determined by flow cytometer. The expression of NF-κB protein was determined by Western Blot. Results:Curcumin could affect the expres-sion of NF-κB protein in CNE-2Z cells, and reduce the expression level of NF-κB protein, which indicated that curcumin had a certain effect on the proliferation and transfer of CNE-2Z.The effect of curcumin on CNE-2Z cells was affected by the action time and concentration. The IC50 values of curcumin on CNE-2Z cells for 24 h were(43.514~45.435)μmol/L,the IC50 values for 48 h were(8.366~13.11)μmol/L,and the IC50 values for 72 h were(5.658~8.469)μmol/L.Conclusion:The higher the concentration of curcumin and the longer the action time, the better the inhibitory effect of CNE-2Z cell pro-liferation.Curcumin can inhibit the proliferation and invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2Z cells by expression of NF-κB protein. The higher the concentration of curcumin and the longer the action time, the better the inhibitory effect of CNE-2Z cell proliferation.
