Clinical efficacy of acupuncture at myofascial trigger points assisted by musculoskeletal ultrasound in the treatment of hemiplegic shoulder pain after stroke
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture at myofascial trigger points assisted by musculo-skeletal ultrasound in the treatment of hemiplegic shoulder pain after stroke. Methods:A total of 66 stroke patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain admitted to the Department of Acupuncture and Rehabilitation of the Guangdong Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2020 to December 2021 were selected and randomly divided into control group and treatment group, with 33 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were treated with routine acupuncture, while patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture at myofascial trigger points assisted by musculoskeletal ultra-sound.The pain rating index,Fugl-Meyer motor function assessment scale score, range of motion of the affected shoulder and range of motion of the shoulder joint were observed before and after treatment, and the results were evaluated. Results:After treatment, the McGill pain scores in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the McGill pain scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.01,P<0.05).The FuglMeyer upper limb movement score and the passive motion of abduction, forward flexion, internal rotation, external rotation and back extension of the affected shoulder joint in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group, with statistical signifi-cance(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion:Acupuncture at myofascial trigger points assisted by musculoskeletal ultrasound in the treatment of hemiplegic shoulder pain after stroke can significantly alleviate the symptoms of shoulder pain, improve the mo-bility of shoulder joints, improve the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of hemiplegic shoulder pain after stroke, and promote the recovery of upper limb function. The overall efficacy is better than that of conventional acupuncture.
