Discussion on acupuncture theory of treating polycystic ovary syndrome with dredging governor vessel,tonifying spleen and kidney and eliminating phlegm and blood stasis
The main etiology and pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)are the deficiency of spleen and kidney,the involvement of governor vessel and the obstruction of phlegm and dampness.Therefore,dredging governor ves-sel and tonifying spleen and kidney are used to treat the root cause of the disease,and eliminating phlegm and blood stasis is used to treat the manifestation of the disease.Baihui,Mingmen and Yaoyangguan along the governor vessel are selected.Acupoints of Guanyuan,Qihai,Pishu,Shenshu,Sanyinjiao and Taixi along the spleen meridian and kidney meridian are selected.This can dredge the governor vessel and support Yang,tonify spleen and kidney.Eliminating phlegm and blood stasis is combined to treat both manifestation and root cause.Zusanli,Xuehai and Fenglong acupoints can strengthen the spleen and unblock the fu-organs,nourish blood and promote blood circulation,dispel dampness and eliminate phlegm and blood stasis.Moxibustion on governor vessel is applied to warm Yang-Qi,stimulate meridians Qi,remove blood stasis and dredge collaterals,and regulate the whole body.Moxa box moxibustion or warm acupuncture can be performed at Mingmen,Yaoyangguan,Sanyinjiao,Taixi,Fenglong,etc.,which directly acts on the diseased parts,viscera and meridians,to warm and help Yang-Qi,dredge meridians,eliminate phlegm and blood stasis.Then Qi activity is smooth,and Qi,blood and body fluids are sufficient.The uterus is continuously nourished by Qi and blood and plays its normal physiological role.
