Professor Zhang Wendong's experience in treating protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc with acupuncture method based on following the paths of the meridians and syndromes
Professor Zhang Wendong inherits and carries forward the traditional Chinese medicine therapy according to the idea of"the stimulated meridians can treat the diseases in the corresponding organs".In the long-term treatment of protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc,Prof.Zhang puts forward the acupoint selection principles of"the acupoint selec-tion is mainly based on the paths of the meridians,supplemented by differentiating syndromes.The remote treatment and near treatment are combined.Meridian differentiation and syndrome differentiation are compatible with each other."Based on the meridian differentiation,Prof.Zhang divides the protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc into the bladder meridian type,the gallbladder meridian type,the governor vessel type and the mixed type.According to the meridian running route of the bladder meridian of the foot taiyang,the gallbladder meridian of the foot shaoyang and the governor vessel,Prof.Zhang selects the proximal acupoints and the distal acupoints for treatment.Based on syndrome differentiation,Prof.Zhang divides the protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc into cold-dampness syndrome,blood stasis syndrome and kidney deficiency syndrome.During the treatment,acupuncture is given in combination with different matching acupoints,moxibustion,bloodletting and other therapies.It has achieved good clinical efficacy and is worthy of popularization and application.
