Treatment of infertility in obese polycystic ovary syndrome based on the theory of"obesity-infertility"from the perspective of the spleen
Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is a common endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age,af-fecting the entire lifespan from adolescence to menopause, primarily manifesting as reproductive dysfunction and endocrine system disorders.Clinical symptoms include irregular menstruation, infertility, obesity, hirsutism, and acanthosis nigri-cans.There is no specific disease name for PCOS in TCM,but according to clinical symptoms and characteristics,it is cat-egorized under"menstrual disorders","infertility"and"obesity".The concept of"obesity-infertility"was first proposed in"Fu Qingzhu's Gynecology."Fu Qingzhu elaborated that the primary pathogenesis of obesity-infertility in women lies in spleen deficiency and phlegm-dampness,closely related to the manifestations and pathogenesis of this condition. This study aims to deeply explore Fu Qingzhu's theory of"obesity-infertility"and analyze its relationship with infertility in obese PCOS.By examining Fu Qingzhu's adherence to the pathogenesis of spleen deficiency and phlegm-dampness,and the use of Modified Buzhong Yiqi Decoction(a formula for strengthening the spleen, benefiting Qi,and removing dampness and phlegm)to treat"obesity-infertility"from the perspective of the spleen,we aim to provide new insights for the clinical treatment of infertility in obese PCOS.
