Discussion on acupuncture treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from the perspective of lung, spleen, and kidney deficiency
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is one of the most common chronic respiratory diseases in China, characterized by a long course and complex pathogenesis that is closely related to the lungs, spleen, and kidneys.Lung deficiency affects the spleen and kidneys, while spleen and kidney deficiency affects the lungs, creating a mutual in-fluence that makes the disease prolonged and recurring.According to traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),treatment for COPD follows the principle of treating the symptoms in acute stages and addressing the root cause in stable periods. The fun-damental deficiency in COPD lies in the deficiency of the lungs, spleen, and kidneys, while intermin-gled phlegm and sta-sis are the primary manifestations.Treatment guided by theories related to the lungs, spleen, and kidneys focuses on replen-ishing vital energy, tonifying the lungs, spleen, and kidneys,as well as resolving phlegm and eliminating stasis, thereby treating both the root cause and the symptoms and taking into account both deficiency and excess.Starting from the theory of Zang-fu organs and meridians,in line with the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment and treating the root cause, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy is adopted, and more acupoints are selected from the lung meridian of Taiyin, the spleen meridian of Taiyin and the kidney meridian of Shaoyin to achieve the effects of reinforcing earth to generate metal and tonifying lung and kidney.
