Investigation on Guo Siben and Governance of Northern Xinjiang in Zhenguan Period of Tang Dynasty
The recently excavated tomb inscription of Guo Siben in Xi'an,Shaanxi,China,by the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology,records the family background and official career of Guo Siben during the Tang Dynasty.There is quite limited information on Guo Siben in official history,and the tomb inscription is a valuable source for studying his official career and relevant events during the early period of Tang Dynasty.Notably,Guo Siben's involvement in the wars and interactions between the Tang Dynasty and the Turks is highlighted,contributing to our understanding of Tang-Turk relations.The inscription also reveals Guo Siben's role as the Honglu Temple's official,providing insights into Tang's foreign relations during that era.
