A Centennial Review of Mansfield Academic in China
China's century long academic journey around Catherine Mansfield has gone through two stages:translation and introduction,and scholarly studies.Among them,the stage of translation and introduction began in 1923,and its development until today can be divided into three successive periods of inception,depression,and revitalization,while the stage of scholarly studies was first initiated in the 1980s.To this day,this stage has mainly focused on narrative studies,feminist criticism,and identity studies on Mansfield's short stories.This paper is an attempt to provide a review of and a commentary on the landscape of more than a century's academic contribution to literary studies on Mansfield in China,to summarize the characteristics and shortcomings of the existing relevant researches,and to put forward some remedial suggestions.The research not only reflects the development pattern of Chinese modern and contemporary literature,but also shows Mansfield's eternal literary charm and the potential direction of future relevant academic development.
