The Impact of the Digital Economy on the Employment of Younger Elderly
In the context of the deepening aging population,the development of elderly labor resources provides a new way to alleviate labor shortages in China.This article is based on the data from 2018 China Health and Elderly Care Tracking Survey(CHARLS),taking the digital economy and using the Probit model to systematically examine the impact and mechanism of the digital economy on the employment of younger elderly.Research has found that the development of the digital economy has significantly increased the probability of employment participation among younger elderly.The impact of the digital economy on younger elderly living in areas with high levels of digital economy and population aging is more significant.The digital economy has a significant boost on the employment of younger elderly with low education and pension income.The digital economy mainly promotes employment participation of younger elderly through three channels:self-awareness,internet use,and innovation and entrepreneurship effects.
