Analysis on the Development and Trend of Internationalization at Home in Major Developed Countries
Internationalization at home means the advancement of the internal construction of internationalization in higher education and is an essential requirement for the deeper development of internationalization in higher education.Developed countries, due to better foundational conditions of education and early initiation of the practices in the field of internationalization at home, have relatively higher levels of development.By examining practices in countries and regions such as Europe, the United States,Australia, and Japan, four development models can be identified:strategic-driven,naturally evolved,industry-driven,and passively responsive. It's also evident that international educational concepts, policies,or strategies play a significant role in driving these practices, with curriculum internationalization holding a central position.Analysis of development trends indicates that internationalization at home and internationalization abroad must develop in tandem. The practical implementation and assessment of curriculum internationalization are expected to further progress, emphasizing greater integration between international and local students.Additionally, information and communication technologies are likely to engender a new form of internationalization at home.
