Research on the Transformation of Urban Industrial Structure Empowered by Higher Education in Singapore
Based on Michael Porter's theory of the urban competition stage,this paper analyzes the interactive logic between higher education and industrial structure transformation in Singapore.The analysis reveals that:in the factor-driven urban competition stage,higher education adapts to the development of labor-intensive industries;In the investment-driven urban competition stage,the developmental trend of"rapid and efficient"higher education promotes the development of technology-intensive and capital-intensive industries;In the innovation-driven urban competition stage,high-quality higher education helps innovation in knowledge-intensive industries.In the latest phase of industrial structure adjustment in Singapore,higher education plays a significant role through various means.This includes optimizing the personnel training system,giving full play to the supportive role of scientific research,emphasizing the agglomeration effect of higher education,enhancing the internationalization level of higher education and other measures.These experiences can serve as a reference for the interaction between higher education and industry in our country.
