Philosophy and Practice of Teacher Education in England—Taking Postgraduate Certificate in Education as an Example
Taking the Postgraduate Certificate in Teacher Education(PGCE)program in England as an example,the paper discusses the idea and practice of teacher education in England.Teacher education in England has gone through four stages of development,and the government has introduced corresponding policies at different stages,such as strengthening the management of teacher education,formulating training manuals,and setting up relevant institutions,in order to promote the reform of teacher education,improve the quality of teacher education,and promote the professional development of teachers.Currently,teacher education in England mainly consists of two types of training programs led by higher education institutions and primary and secondary schools,which embody the concepts of combining theory and practice,continuous professional development and the development of teachers'reflective skills.The PGCE curriculum emphasizes the cooperation between universities and practice schools,attaches the importance of the whole process of training based on practice,and focuses on reflective learning,but it also faces some challenges in practice.China's teacher education reform can take England's experience for reference,pay attention to the balance between national policy and school flexibility,emphasize the cooperation between universities and primary and secondary schools,and cultivate students'sense of reflection and lifelong learning ability.
