Improving Teaching Quality:A Case Study of TEval Program
University teaching evaluation reform is a critical educational issue currently garnering attention in China. The U.S.TEval program offers a novel perspective on this reform.Based on the seven-dimensional Teaching Quality Framework established by the University of Colorado Boulder, the program outlines five core principles that multidimensional teaching evaluation reform should follow.Typical reform cases include the Teaching Effectiveness Benchmarks project at the University of Kansas, the Teaching Quality Framework Initiative at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Comprehensive Teaching Evaluation Reform project at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.Despite challenges such as high time costs and inconsistent starting points for implementation across departments, the program still provides valuable insights for the evaluation in Chinese universities. These include the construction of an evaluation system involving multiple parties, the establishment of comprehensive multidimensional evaluation criteria, and the improvement of feedback mechanisms to provide personalized guidance and assistance for teachers.
