Under the continuous influence of anthropological theories and methods, the traditional border research has transformed itself and developed an important interdisciplinary subdivision:anthropological border studies. This field has gone through three development stages from inception to formation:First of all,the transformation of the logical relationship between"culture"and"border"in anthropology since the 1960s has transformed the border from a research premise to a research subject, thus laying the conceptual foundation for the rise of this field.Secondly, the absorption of anthropology by traditional border studies since the 1980s has promoted the shift of research paradigm from"border"to"borderization",hence updating the ontology and epistemology of border studies. Finally,in the past decade, the border research paradigm has further absorbed and highlighted the ethnographic approach in the expansion of"political criticism"and"ethical concern",thus bringing about the formation of anthropological border studies.
