Latin American cosmopolitanism came into being in the course of its historical evolution in pursuit of national independence and liberation,presenting a possibility of coordinating the relationship between self and others,and sublimating the indigenous cosmopolitanism in the intellectual enquiries on individual values and human values.The cosmopolitanism in Latin America is manifested as distinct regional cultural characteristics,such as taking Latin America itself as cosmopolitan,shifting from focusing on individual values to overall progress of mankind,and being subject to national cosmopolitanism,which takes the thoughts of decolonization,racial integration and community building represented by Pan-Americanism as its core values.Therefore,Latin American cosmopolitanism shows multiple forms,that is,cosmopolitanism that goes for decolonization,cosmopolitanism that emphasizes moral education,cosmopolitanism that advocates racial integration,and cosmopolitanism that seeks fair global distribution.Latin American cosmopolitanism has not only enriched the cosmopolitanism of mankind by virtue of its unique characteristics of civilization,but also contributed its unique intellectual wisdom to the promotion of exchanges and mutual learning among various civilizations around the globe,and the common values of mankind.
