Discrimination of critical terms of forest invasive species and discussion on work prioritization in China
Forest invasive species are essential biological factors affecting forest health and sustainable forestry development.Their invasion and management processes involve many professional terms, covering many disciplines. The concepts of some terms used in this field in China are unclear, some are inconsistent with international terms, and the terminology is imperfect. These lead to confusion and misusing terms, bringing specific difficulties to practical work and international communications.According to domestic and foreign legislation, standards, and research progress, combined with the actual occurrence and management of forest invasive species in China, the concepts of critical terms in the prevention, control, and management processes of forest invasive species were discriminated against in this article. The biological invasion prioritization theory was introduced. We discussed the research and management work of forest invasive species that need to be prioritized in China based on key terminology and prioritization theory. This study provides a reference for improving the terminology and the management system of forest invasive species in China and will support the relevant research, management, and legislation.
