Effects of Soluble Fiber Diet on Reproductive Performance of Sows During Late Pregnancy
In order to explore the effects of soluble fiber in the late pregnancy diet on the reproductive performance of sows,a total of 120 late pregnancy sows from a large-scale pig farm in Cheng County,Gansu Province were randomly selected and divided into two groups. The control group was fed with conventional basic diet, while the experimental group was fed with basic diet+1.0%soluble fiber. The effect of adding soluble fiber to the diet on the reproductive performance of sows was compared and analyzed. The results showed that the delivery rate, average litter size, average live litter size, average litter weight, average weaned head count, average weaned piglet weight, and average weaned litter weight of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);the lactose and protein content in the colostrum of sows in the experimental group with soluble fiber added to the feed were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the number of colostrum cells in the experimental group was significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).In summary, soluble fiber could significantly improve the reproductive performance and colostrum quality of sows in the late pregnancy period, providing relevant reference for rational nutritional allocation and healthy breeding of sows in this area.
