Study on Preparation and Properties of HDPE/CNTs Composites
With high density polyethylene (HDPE) as matrix, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as conductive filler, the thermal conductive HDPE/CNTs composites were prepared by melt blending and solution blending methods. The effects of CNTs content and size on mechanical properties, thermal conductivity,Vicat softening temperature and melt flow rate of the composites were studied. And the effects of the two processing methods on mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the composites were compared. The results show that with the increase of CNTs content, the tensile strength, bending strength and thermal conductivity of the composites increase obviously.CNTs with big diameter are more favorable for the improvement of the performance. The tensile strength, bending strength and thermal conductivity of the composites are increased by 33.43%,36.31% and 52.59% (60℃) respectively when CNTs content is 10%.The improvements for the properties of the composites prepared by melt blending method are more obvious.
