Study on Mechanical Properties and Heat Resistance of PVC/Modified Nano-CaCO3 Composites
Using titanium ester-modified nano-calcium carbonate(nano-CaCO3),PVC/modified nano-CaCO3 composites were prepared by blending modified nano-CaCO3 with polyvinyl chloride(PVC).The study aimed to investigate the influence of the modified nano-CaCO3 content on the mechanical properties and thermal properties of the PVC/nano-CaCO3 composites. The results show that titanium ester is successfully grafted onto the surface of nano-CaCO3.When the content of modified nano-CaCO3 does not exceed 10%,it exhibits good dispersion in the composites. With an increase of the content of modified nano-CaCO3,the tensile properties and impact strength of PVC/modified nano-CaCO3 composites initially increase and then decrease. At a modified nano-CaCO3 content of 10%,the PVC/modified nano-CaCO3 composite exhibits the best mechanical properties, with the tensile strength, elongation at break, and impact strength being 1.74 times,1.75 times, and 2.12 times those of PVC,respectively. The initial thermal degradation temperature of the composite is increased by 80℃,and the residual mass is increased by 25.7%.
