Research on Improving Flame Retardancy of Nylon/Cotton Blended Materials with Phytic Acid Based Biological Coatings
Phytic acid/cysteine(PA/Cys)flame retardant coating was synthesized by one-pot method with phytic acid and L-cysteine as raw materials, and the prepared PA/Cys coating was sprayed into nylon/cotton blended materials. The effects of phytic acid based biological coating on thermal stability, flame retardancy and smoke suppression of nylon/cotton blended fabrics were investigated by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analyzer, limiting oxygen index and vertical combustion tests. The results show that PA/Cys spraying can significantly improve the thermal stability, flame retardancy and smoke suppression properties of nylon/cotton blended materials. When PA/Cys is sprayed twice, the carbon residue of nylon/cotton blended fabric is about 40%,which is 1.16 times higher than that of pure nylon/cotton blended fabric. When PA/Cys is sprayed twice, the LOI value of nylon/cotton blended fabric is 26.6%,the damaged length is 60 mm,the burning time and smoldering time are 0,and the TSP decreases to 0.34 m2.
