Study on Mechanical Properties and Durability of Carbon Fiber Reinforced High Density Polyethylene Composites
HDPE/CF composites were prepared by using carbon fiber(CF)and high density polyethylene(HDPE),and the effects of CF content on the mechanical properties and durability of the composites were studied. The results show that the mechanical properties and durability of the composites are enhanced with the increase of CF content. When the content of CF is 12%,the tensile strength and flexural strength of the composite are 145.9%and 220.4%higher than that of pure HDPE,the impact strength is 5.9%lower than that of pure HDPE.When the content of CF is 12%,the Vicat softening temperature(VST)of the composite is the highest, which is 19℃higher than that of pure HDPE.Adding 12%CF can ensure that the composite has higher mechanical properties and the best durability.
