Study on Compressive Mechanical Properties and Energy Absorption of Expanded Polystyrene Foam Materials
Expanded polystyrene(EPS)foam material has a good application prospect in the field of impact resistance. In order to reveal the compression mechanical properties and energy absorption properties of EPS foam materials, uniaxial static compression tests of EPS foam materials with different densities(10,18,25 kg/m3)were carried out under different loading rates(12,24,48 mm/min).The results show that the stress of EPS foam material increases with the increase of material density and loading rate under the same strain condition. The yield strength and elastic modulus of EPS foam material are positively correlated with material density and loading rate. The energy absorption density increases with the increase of material density and loading rate, and the increasing rate decreases gradually. The specific energy absorption decreases with the increase of material density and increases with the increase of loading rate. The research results can provide a basis for the application of EPS foam materials in the field of impact resistance.
