Calligraphy is about the art of Chinese characters,but the emergence of characters is not equal to the birth of calligraphy,as an independent art category,calligraphy should be marked by the emergence of calligraphy theory.According to the available literature,Chinese calligraphy theory was born at the end of the Western Han dynasty,and has been developing and prospering.There are a number of calligraphers,such as Yang Xiong,Cui Yuan,Zhao Yi,Cai Yong,etc.,formed a spectacular Han dynasty calligraphy theory series.The theory of Han dynasty calligraphy created the frame model of Chinese calligraphy and calligraphy theory,established a variety of calligraphy styles,effectively developed new calligraphy styles,especially enhanced the status of cursive calligraphy,making it the most expressive calligraphy style.Many new viewpoints of the theory of calligraphy in the Han dynasty have a lasting influence on the later generations,and are of guiding significance to the practice and criticism of the theory of calligraphy in the later two thousand years.
