Analysis of the Causes of Character Poetic and Literary Views in"The Scholars"——On Wu Jingzi's View of Poetry and Literature
Wu Jingzi's portrayal of characters in"The Scholars"shows two poetic views:praise and criticism.This is mainly due to the social system at that time,as well as the combined effects of the Eight legged Essay on the destruction of poetry writing techniques and atmosphere,changes in social atmosphere,scholars'addiction to traditional literature,and the author's personal life projection.Based on the characteristics of Wu Jingzi's poetry in"Wenmu's Mountain House Collection",Wu's views on praising and criticizing poetry in"The Scholars"are respectively produced by his violation of social constraints and obedience to social environment.Through Wu's poetry,we can glimpse the living environment of Ming and Qing poetry under the imperial examination system.
