Determination of 2-Chloroethanol,a Metabolite of Ethylene Oxide in Food by GC-MS/MS
This article establishes an analytical method for detecting residual amounts of 2-chloroethanol,a metabolite of ethylene oxide,in food using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The sample was pre-treated with dispersion solid-phase extraction, pulse injection, and quantified using external standard method. The results showed that there was a good linear relationship between ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol at 50~800 ng·mL-1,with a correlation coefficient R2 of 0.999 4;the detection limit is 50 ng·mL-1,and the quantification limit is 150 ng·mL-1;when the addition level is 2 mg·kg-1,the average recovery rate is 89.5%to 104.9%.This method has convenient pre-treatment operation, low consumable cost, high accuracy, and meets the needs of most laboratories. It can be used for the determination of ethylene oxide and its metabolite 2-chloroethanol in food.
