Determination of 8 Synthetic Colorants in Beverages by High Performance Liquid Chromatography
A method for the determination of eight colorants in beverages by solid-phase extraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)was established. The results showed that the linearity of the eight colorants was good in the concentration range of 0.5~50.0 μg·mL-1 with the correlation coefficients greater than 0.999;the RSD of the precision experiments were in the range of 0.7%~2.2%;and the average spiked recoveries were in the range of 91.67%~93.79%with the RSD≤3.8%.Eight artificial colorants in 20 batches of different types of beverages were measured, and the results showed that none of the pigments in the beverages exceeded the prescribed limit. This method is simple and efficient, and can be used for the simultaneous determination of 8 synthetic colorants in beverages.
