Health Benefits of Isomaltol and Its Application in Functional Foods
Isomaltitol,as a functional sugar alcohol,is highly regarded in the field of food science and technology.Research assessments indicate that isomaltitol has a low glycemic index,low caloric content,and excellent hygroscopicity,making it suitable as a sweetness modulator in functional foods.In view of its health benefits,this paper investigates the prevention of dental caries,promotes intestinal health,and regulates blood glucose,expounds the mechanisms of inhibition of oral bacterial biofilm formation,and improves insulin sensitivity,and analyzes its health benefits based on literature such as double-blind randomized controlled trials.It not only looks forward to the application prospect of isomaltitol in the development of functional foods,but also puts forward strategies for market expansion,as well as suggestions for promoting interdisciplinary cooperation between food science and medicine and biotechnology.
