Simultaneous Determination of Chlorate and Chlorite in Drinking Water by Ion Chromatography
Chlorine dioxide disinfection is a commonly used disinfection method in residential drinking water. Its main disinfection by-products are chlorate and chlorite, which are important indicators for routine water quality testing and pose significant risks to human health.Based on this, this article establishes an ion chromatography method for simultaneous determination of chlorate and chlorite in drinking water. In the experiment,IonPac AS 13 chromatographic column was selected, potassium hydroxide solution was used as the eluent, the eluent flow rate was set to 1.0 mL·min-1,the sample injection volume was 25 µL,the conductivity detection cell and chromatographic column temperature were both 30 ℃,the inhibitor inhibition mode was automatic regeneration mode, and the current was 50 mA.The results showed that there was a good linear relationship between chlorate and chlorite in the concentration range of 0~1.0 mg·L-1,with R2≥0.999 0 and a detection limit of 0.005 mg·L-1 for chlorate;the detection limit of chlorite is 0.002 4 mg·L-1.This method is simple to operate, highly sensitive, and accurate, and can simultaneously determine the content of chlorate and chlorite in drinking water.
